On June 15, 2016, TNSAVE delivered training on structural assessment and visual evaluation of structures damaged by earthquakes and wind/flood. The class was hosted by the Air National Guard at their facility located at the Memphis Airport. A total of 36 personnel attended the training including members of the Air National Guard, Memphis Office of Emergency Management, Memphis Airport, FEDEX and TEMA. The training was delivered by TNSAVE volunteers Clint Camp, PE and Rick Heckel, PE, D.GE. The event began with an overview of the TNSAVE program. Clint then presented modules on structural basics, structural response to earthquakes and structural response to wind. Rick then presented the rapid visual assessment procedures which are modeled after ATC 20 (earthquakes) and ATC 45 (wind/flood). He finished with modules on damage evaluations for earthquakes and then wind/flood. This class represents the first time TNSAVE members have delivered this training.
