On September 22-25, TNSAVE Representatives Brenna Robinson (TEMA) and J. Michael Barry (SAME) observed and participated in an exercise of the Indiana I-BEAM Building Inspector Program in New Harmony, Indiana. I-BEAM is a function of the Indiana State Fire Marshal and the Indiana Dept. of Homeland Security.

During the exercise, I-BEAM tested the mobilization of its building inspectors, command center setup, and field deployment for building inspections. The scenario was based upon an earthquake along the Wabash Valley Seismic Zone in southwestern Indiana.

Along with TNSAVE and representatives from the Central U.S. Earthquake Consortium (CUSEC), members from the Missouri S.A.V.E. Coalition and the Illinois FAST building inspection programs participated in and observed exercise activities. TNSAVE learned valuable lessons during the exercise and will continue working with CUSEC and other States to develop our own building inspector program.

We would like to thank Indiana and the I-BEAM team for hosting us at their exercise and look forward to future collaboration with them.
